What is The Gaffe?
The Gaffe is a comedy club in central Bristol, hosting live stand up comedy on weeknights and weekends. We also host themed comedy shows, sketch shows, roast battles, tour shows (comedians performing their solo shows), comedy competitions and charity nights.
-
Does The Gaffe have a bar?
Yes! The Gaffe has a bar that is open before and after comedy shows, serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There’s also a hot drinks machine for late night tea and coffee. You don’t need a ticket to a comedy show at The Gaffe to enjoy the bar.
-
Where is the front door to The Gaffe?
The Gaffe shares a front door with Dareshack on Wine Street, Bristol. There is a bus stop directly outside.
-
How do I buy tickets for comedy at The Gaffe?
You can buy tickets via Headfirst on our home page or by searching on the Headfirst ticketing website or app. You can also buy tickets for The Gaffe on Ticket Tailor.
-
How will my tickets be sent to me?
Your tickets will be sent to you online through your email address. If you bought your ticket on Headfirst you can also find it by logging into your account on the Headfirst website or app. Don’t worry if you can’t find your ticket, we can check the door list for the name of the person who booked.
-
Can I buy tickets for The Gaffe on the door?
Our shows often sell out so we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. If we do have unfilled seats then we will sell tickets on the door.
-
Is The Gaffe an accessible venue?
Yes, the Gaffe is a fully accessible venue with step-free access and an accessible toilet. If you’re able to, please let us know in advance if you will require step-free access. We want to ensure your time with us is as comfortable as possible, so please let us know if we can make any adjustments for you.
-
When should I arrive for a comedy show?
The doors usually open about an hour before the show starts. The event description will tell you what time the doors open and what time the show is scheduled to start. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before start time so you can be seated. The bar at The Gaffe is popular so we recommend arriving with enough time to buy a drink before the show.
-
Is it OK to heckle during a comedy show?
We understand that heckling is often a part of live comedy and when the MC (host) is on stage they’ll be the most receptive to a bit of back and forth with the audience. However, we kindly ask that you refrain from heckling and talking when our acts are performing. You can of course respond if they talk to you!
-
Will I get picked on if I sit in the front row?
We want everyone to have a good time at The Gaffe, and the MC (host) is there to make sure that happens! You might be slightly more likely to be spoken to on the front row, but the MC and acts will also call on people throughout the crowd, right up to the back row. Wherever you’re sitting, if you don’t want to engage in conversation then simply shake your head and our acts will move on.
-
What time do shows finish at The Gaffe?
Our shows will end approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes after the start. We aim to finish all our shows with enough time to use public transport to get home.
-
What is the latest I can arrive for a show?
If you’re running a few minutes late, please try and let us know so we can find you a seat with minimal disruption to the performance. If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the show starts, and haven’t told us you’re on your way, your tickets may be resold to those waiting on the door. If you’re going to be very late and are happy to wait to be seated during the interval, please let us know so we don’t resell your tickets.
-

The maximum number of tickets you can order in one go is 8. If you’d like to make a group booking for more than 8 people, please email us first at hello@thebristolcomedyclub.com
Please not that large bookings may have to pay a behavioural deposit. If a group disrupts the performance for everyone else they will be asked to leave.
-

Yes! We can create a bespoke package for your corporate booking at one of our regular comedy nights, or create an exclusive comedy night for your company. If you’re looking to hire our studio space for rehearsals, readings, shows, meetings, filming and everything in between, this can also be arranged. Please use our contact form to make an enquiry.
-
Is there an age restriction?
All of our shows are strictly 18+. However, we’re looking at adding in some early shows, and afternoon shows that would be more suitable for younger and family audiences. Sign up to our newsletter or follow us on social media to stay up to date with the latest news.
-
What happens if the line-up changes after i bought my ticket?
We do our best to ensure that our line ups stay as advertised but sometimes they do have to change due to illness or personal emergencies. Fortunately, we know a lot of very good comics, so we’ll always be able to put together a great alternative lineup. If you were really hoping to see a particular comedian and don’t feel like laughing with anyone else, get in touch and we can transfer your ticket to a new date.
-
What is your cancellation policy?
Tickets are refundable up to 48 hours before the event, after which they cannot be refunded. However, we understand plans can change last minute. If you can no longer make the event, please let us know as soon as possible so your tickets can be transferred to a future date.
